“Come on follow me,” Ambrosia the pixie princess said to Delphyne the brownie princess. “I want to show you something.”
“Where in the world are you leading me?” Delphyne asked her friend after they went beyond the area in the woods they usually traveled. “You will see soon enough,” Ambrosia replied with a little laugh. Her butterfly wings floating in the breeze. The two fairies flew through the forest darting this way and that between the trees with Ambrosia in the lead and Delphyne following her. They stopped at the edge of the forest and looked out over a large clearing that was there. A little house stood in the middle of this clearing. The two fairies watched as two cats lounged on the front deck in front of the house and two little dogs rolled around in the grass in front of the deck. Beyond all of that was a road with an occasional car passing by. “They don’t even know we are here,” Ambrosia laughed. “Come on let’s go,” she said as she flew toward the house. “I don’t think I’m going to like this,” Delphyne said as she followed her friend into an open window of the house. The sun caught the colors in her dragonfly wings as she went. Ambrosia was smiling and laughing as she flew into a bathroom where a woman had just left with an armful of folded clothes. Delphyne entered the bathroom just in time to see Ambrosia fly into the dryer. “Now what are you up to?” Delphyne demanded. She stood on the washing machine with her hands on her hips and stomped her foot. She frowned as she waited for her trouble making friend. Ambrosia flew out of the dryer with one white sock covering her right arm and one black sock covering her left arm. The socks were mostly dangling over her hands since they were too big for her and they made her a little wobbly. “Watch this,” she laughed as she flew upside down and dropped both socks behind the dryer. She almost went with the socks they were so heavy compared to her. The day was warm and sunny. Pepper and Feisty decided it was a good time to go outside and roll around in the grass. Pepper was looking up at the sky when she heard the voices of someone laughing and talking. “Do you hear voices?” Feisty asked. “Yes and they sound like they are inside the house,” Pepper said as she jumped up. Both dogs ran back into the house through the pet door followed by the cats. They all started together as a group going from one room to the next looking for the owners of the voices they had heard. “Are you finished with your mischief now?” Delphyne asked. “No,” Ambrosia replied. She smiled as she flew off into the next room. Flying into the kitchen the pixie knocked some cups off a counter and headed into the living room. “You have caused enough trouble for one day,” Delphyne said trying to catch hold of her friend. “Let’s get out of here.” Ambrosia was having too much fun to leave. She flew low to the floor to get out of her friends reach. She did not see the animals until it was too late. She flew right into the face of the smaller of the two dogs. The impact of hitting the dog sent the little fairy backward and she ended up sitting on the floor in a daze. The animals were standing in the middle of the living room floor when they caught sight of the two small fairies. Pepper froze not knowing what to do when she saw the little red headed fairy fly straight toward her, and then right into her nose. The impact really did not hurt Pepper but the bug sized girl with wings went bouncing on the floor. It was all Pepper as well as the others could do to not laugh out loud. Pepper and Ambrosia stared at each other in stunned silence for a moment. Suddenly Tabby cat leapt over Pepper as she yelled “Kitty chew toy.” Ambrosia looked up and saw the cat coming down on her and with the help of Delphyne moved out of the way just in time. As both fairies flew to the top of a bookshelf Pepper and Feisty both said “Tabby don’t hurt them.” “Don’t eat them,” Angel warned “They look human. If they are you’ll get in trouble.” Tabby jumped up to the top shelf of the bookcase. When Tabby looked down at her friends Ambrosia tried to push her off of the shelf and said, “Go away cat.” Delphyne tried to pull her friend behind a book and said shakily, “come on let’s hide back here where we will be safe.” Tabby smiled down at her friends as if she did not even notice the fairy and said, “I just want to play with them for awhile the way I would one of my toys.” “No!” all the other animals as well as the fairies yelled at the same time. Think about how you treat your toys while you are playing with them,” Pepper said wide eyed. “Well,” Tabby said reluctantly. “Think about how your toys look after you have looked played with them,” Angel said. “I can see your point,” Tabby said. “Think about how much trouble you will be in if you get caught,” Feisty said. He cocked his head to one side as he looked up at them. Not likely after the mess these two made,” Tabby retorted. “Humans can’t see us,” Ambrosia said. “We use magic to make ourselves look like butterflies,” Delphyne said. “Then I could get in trouble,” Tabby said with a sad sigh. “You two are so lucky,” Tabby pouted as she jumped down to join her friends. Everyone introduced themselves, so that the fairies and animals could get to know each other. “Why did you two make such a mess in our house?” Pepper asked. “I did that,” Ambrosia said. “I am a pixie and pixies are known for playing tricks and making messes,” she explained. “I will clean up the mess,” Delphyne said. “I’m a brownie and we live in houses and help people by doing some of the chores,” she chimed in. “As soon as Delphyne is done cleaning up she and I will go back to our homes in the forest,” Ambrosia said. “Actually if it is alright with the animals I would like this to be my home,” Delphyne said. “Yes!” said Pepper happily. She twirled around in a circle. “That would be great!” Feisty said. He licked the little fairy and smiled. “Works for me,” Angel said. “Why not,” Tabby said. “What about the C.A.T.?” Ambrosia asked. She gave Tabby a sideways glance. “I do not think Tabby will hurt me now that she has gotten to know me,” Delphyne smiled at Tabby. “Oh no I won’t. We are best friends forever now,” Tabby purred. “The dogs and I will keep an eye on them won’t we?” Angel looked from Pepper to Feisty. The dogs both nodded yes. Everyone laughed and smiled and talked. Pepper twirled in a circle and Feisty ran the length of the room before sitting down beside Tabby cat. |
