Beneath the iridescent turquoise scales
rages blood, crimson. Its chest beats concave to full uncountable times per second. The feline’s canines flash. Claws extend from velvet. I look away from the grotesque Pietà of lizard and cat. We are told the heart is full of love, but my, how Nature’s indifference spreads. A Divine hand on the fuzzy neck’s scruff, and fluorescent stripes zip away toward green. The jeweled belly, a hidden pendant deep within my innermost keep. |
