will the wildflowers sing carry on our voices on the breath of spring shorn cotton silk and what the red-winged blackbird brings surely they’d carry our tears with them on a cool wind, cool breeze bright like a gem sweat slick and shimmering beneath a hardened stem surely will they lift their fragile faces singing wildsonglikefreedom weaving praises herringbone beautiful between the boundless phases of the sun surely speakingsunbrightburningbellowedlamplightliliesbloomingtrumpetsorangefirefuming surely we are worthy to be remembered wildflowers loyal to these sunbaked hands yes, surely. |
