Haunted Heart
You used to hold my hand, as if you never wanted to let go.
Kissed me goodbye, like there was no tomorrow. I was the centre of your lense, but now those photographs are erased. You insisted I was special, gave me all sorts of empty praise. Never thought a day would come, when you wouldn't love me back. Honesty was something that I thought you didn't lack. Always reassured me that your love was pure and true. Yet the lies would pile up, turning my heart blue. Almost a year has passed by, and I still miss you. As for the pain you caused, you probably have no clue. Content to treat me like a stranger, since you moved on with such haste. Following a path of endless lies, that left a bitter after-taste. Did you forget that I was already broken? That I have a fragile heart. So of course, when you left, it was inevitable it would tear me apart. Now I am just a ghost in the depths of your heart. Wish I could erase these feelings as easily as you left me in the dark. It's true that I struggle with a certain darkness, Still, that doesn't give you any right to imply that I'm crazy or a mess. Instead of helping me when I needed it most, you vanished from our dwelling, just like a ghost. |
