Working: Vol. 4, No. 2 - Issue 14 Summer 2025

Black Women Talking

Issue 5
We sit in a half moon
Toes curled inward

One leg slanted atop the other
We sit thinking;

All of us searching for a solution
To this afro that refuses to be

Tamed. We run through our
Heads all the things that could

Would and should work
So Anya say we could lay it all down

She lays out her plan
She tells V what to do

And Luce how she can help
And she walks toward the stereo

We figure it out
We are unstoppable

With Rihanna at full volume
And me knowing I can do anything

As long as I have you all
